Summary

This was the first Economic Growth panel where the group met in person and got to know each other better. Dr Geraldine Paterson, Innovation Development Manager, provided details of ENWL's current innovation strategy and some upcoming projects. Cara Blockley, Head of DSO and Christos Kaloudas, Capacity Strategy Lead looked at flexibility, future planning and ENWL's expectations for the development of the network over the short, medium and long term. 

The discussion focussed around the panel members: introductions about themselves, their businesses, their thoughts on the key challenges facing businesses in the region, and areas that they would like to know more about or collaborate with the panel on.

Helen Daly, Stakeholder Engagement Manager, provided a recap of what was covered at the previous Economic Growth panel in July and Elise Wilson, Chair, provided a recap of discussions from the first two meetings of ENWL’s Independent Oversight Group, that all our advisory panels feed in to.

In response to specific requests from panel members at our first meeting, Steffan Jones, Head of Customer Quotations, presented an overview of connection capacity constraints and explained the ESO five point plan and ENA three point plan for addressing these issues. The panel also reviewed the previous six months’ connections performance presented by Brian Hoy, Head of Market Regulation and Compliance.

Finally, Jonathan Booth, Head of Asset Management, discussed ENWL’s response to the Ofgem and BEIS reports into Storm Arwen, and asked for your feedback on some new proposals for enhancing the resilience of our network to storms.
