Working with land owners during Coronavirus
Working with landowners throughout Coronavirus
As an essential service provider, Electricity North West is working with the National Farmers Union, CLA and other landowners to ensure we keep the power flowing for our five million customers.
Throughout the lockdown, our engineers, recognised as key workers, are continuing with our essential maintenance programme to ensure the network remains resilient throughout the coming weeks and months. It is therefore vital engineers can access the overhead and underground electricity network.
Critical jobs that may require access to land include:
-
Restoring power to customers during a fault
-
Essential maintenance to increase future resilience of the network (including tree cutting)
-
Network safety, including repairs to anti-climb barriers and signage to protect the public.
Our engineers wear recognisable company clothing and PPE and always carry identification, they are following Government guidance which includes measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. Engineers are equipped with welfare facilities and adhere to social distancing guidelines to ensure the safety of themselves and our customers.
Please help support these efforts and allow Electricity North West engineers to access to the network.
In some instances, work may include a temporary loss of power and we know it will be particularly difficult to be without power at the moment. Where possible, we have reduced our standard times for these power cuts to be no more than five hours to reduce disruption.
