Proud to power the Manchester International Festival
The region’s network power operator, Electricity North West, is proud to power and invest in the great community in which it operates by sponsoring this year’s Manchester International Festival.
The Manchester International Festival is the world’s first festival of original special events staged every two years in Manchester, with the next taking place from 29 June to 16 July 2017 at venues all over the city.
The power operator invests £130m every year in the network and employs 1,700 people across the North West including 70 employees in its Manchester team who work hard to keep the lights on across Greater Manchester.
Peter Emery, CEO for Electricity North West, said: “Our role goes beyond keeping the lights on across the North West, we are committed to serving the creative and passionate community of Manchester in which our people work and live.
“We’re proud that it’s our network that connects communities and supports the success of the Manchester International Festival.”
John McGrath, Artistic Director and CEO of Manchester International Festival, said: “We’re delighted that Electricity North West are returning to the Festival as one of our loyal supporters.
“Once again they will be helping us to power our found spaces around the city centre as well assist in the transportation of our teams with the generous use of their electric vehicles.
“The Festival couldn’t happen without the fantastic way in which partners like Electricity North West support us – both through resources and through their enthusiasm and staff engagement.”
Manchester International Festival brings together artists from different art forms and backgrounds to create dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking new work, which we stage in a rich tapestry of venues across Greater Manchester – from theatres, galleries and concert halls to railway depots, churches and car parks.
Employees from Electricity North West will be volunteering throughout the festival and a fleet of electric vehicles will be used by coordinators during the festival.
