Electricity North West announces flexibility requirements
Electricity North West is pleased to announce its new flexibility requirements, the fifth tender in the firm’s history; which comes on top of the 52MW of tenders already issued in the last year.
The new requirements in the areas of Bolton by Bowland, Coniston and Easton are all ‘restore’ responses, which seek customers to provide flexible services in the event of a network fault. These requirements total 4.4 MW over the next 3 years.
Request for Proposal (RfP) opens for submissions on Monday, 4 November and close on Friday 13 December.
Simon Brooke, Head of Distribution System Operator transition said: “Electricity North West recognises the importance of flexibility in helping the North West to achieve its zero carbon targets and facilitating our transition to a Distribution System Operator.”
The full details of the services required can be found on https://www.enwl.co.uk/zero-carbon/flexible-services/. Interested parties are asked to register via the Electricity North West website to guarantee participation.
Some additional work is being undertaken to specify the requirements at the sites currently signposted for future flexibility. These larger requirements will be issued in Spring 2020.
A flexibility workshop is being held on Tuesday 6 November at Electricity North West’s Preston depot, providing an insight into the approach to procuring flexibility and our vision for the future. This event will also talk stakeholders through the current requirements and provide further guidance on the procurement processes and how to submit a proposal.
