Engineers from Electricity North West continue to work through the evening and night to restore power to the remaining 840 customers across the North West after Storm Ciara hit the region earlier today.
More than 24,500 customers have been restored since the severe gales and heavy rain caused damage to the network and engineers have worked in extremely difficult conditions to try and access substations submerged in water and repair the damage to overhead powerlines.

Stephanie Trubshaw, Customer Director for Electricity North West, said: “Thanks to the hard work and dedication of many of our colleagues working in difficult conditions today we have restored power to more than 24,500 customers and will work into the night and be back onsite at first light to restore power to the final 840 customers.
“It’s been a busy day and we would like to also thank our customers for their support and patience as we worked to repair the damage and restore power as quickly and safely as possible.”
