Sandsfield Road
We are improving the biodiversity and natural habitat in your area by planting more than 14,000 trees commencing winter/early spring 2024.
As part of our overarching environmental commitment, we are proposing to both establish and expand the long-term habitats for wildlife on our land holdings adjacent to Sandsfield Road and Burgh Road on the western edge of Carlisle – please see map.
We are planning to plant over 14,000 trees which will be planted and maintained by an Electricity North West appointed contractor.
Benefits to you and your community will include richer and more diverse wildlife, cleaner air, reduced flood risk, stronger climate resilience and visual improvements. The tree planting is due to commence in late winter / early spring 2024. Interruption and noise will be minimal in the area.
Having reviewed the Sandsfield Road site we have designed a tree planting scheme which will deliver biodiversity enhancement without compromising the maintenance of our operational assets on this site, that keep power to your homes and community. The proposed design will also allow for some continued agricultural use, as the trees will be widely spaced or in a mosaic layout with individual protection.
