Leisure and electricity

Leisure and electricity

Accidents can happen when you are enjoying their leisure time; for example when playing, sailing, fishing, camping or flying kites. Dangerous situations can occur in proximity to power lines with certain objects.

Playing safe - sports and games

Stay away, stay alive

Play ball games and any other related activities well away from substations.

If your ball or any other associated play equipment falls inside a substation:

  • never try to retrieve it yourself, even if it looks to be in reach
  • never try to poke anything through the fence to reach your ball
  • never attempt to scale or climb a fence that boundaries a substation site
  • please remember even damp sticks can conduct electricity.
