Smart Street project partners
Throughout the Smart Street project we worked with a number of partners and key suppliers who are leading experts in their fields, either in research, technology or customer engagement.
The partners who worked on the project were Kelvatek, Siemens and Impact Research. Key suppliers included TNEI, the University of Manchester, Queen's University Belfast and the Tyndall Centre.
Kelvatek
Kelvatek is the UK leader in low voltage (LV) switching, automation and fault management technology. The Kelvatek team has an exceptional record of bringing innovative product solutions to the power industry through a robust research and development pipeline, combined with unique LV high current test facilities.
Role on project
Kelvatek supplied Weezap and Lynx devices and provided support in executing the trials. The company provided training on the installation and operation of Weezap and Lynx. Experienced Kelvatek field teams attended site to provide advice and on the job training, or support and advice by telephone.
Siemens
Siemens is one of the world's leading technology vendors of power generation and energy delivery technologies with extensive experience in successfully providing and implementing smart solutions to distribution network operators (DNOs).
Role on project
Siemens was responsible for the supply, installation and configuration of the Smart Street optimisation hardware and software. The company provided support during execution of the trials and produced an optimisation implementation strategy for DNOs using other network management solutions.
Impact Research
Impact Research is a leading marketing and research organisation with extensive experience in customer engagement activities in the UK utilities industry. The company has successfully delivered research for a number of Low Carbon Networks Fund projects.
Role on project
Impact provided customer engagement and survey activities. Throughout the project, the Impact team produced reports on customer experience of Smart Street, and provided learning and dissemination support.
TNEI
TNEI is experienced in all aspects of power generation, transmission and distribution, with particular expertise in network modelling.
Role on project
TNEI was responsible for the Smart Street network design and for managing the consultation process.
The University of Manchester
The University of Manchester has a high quality research profile and is counted among the leading universities in the world. It is home to one of the UK's leading schools of electrical and electronic engineering for teaching and research.
Role on project
The University of Manchester delivered three studies as part of the Smart Street project. It also provided support during the execution of the trials, and learning and dissemination support.
Queen’s University Belfast
Queen’s University is one of the UK's leading research-intensive universities and is internationally renowned for the quality and diversity of its research.
Role on project
Queen’s University was responsible for the delivery of two studies as part of the Smart Street project. It also provided support during the execution of the trials, and learning and dissemination support.
The Tyndall Centre
The well respected Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research is part of the University of Manchester.
Role on project
The Tyndall Centre supported our carbon impact assessment work and provided learning and dissemination support.
