Small ways to make Big Savings

There are many ways you can use and produce energy more sustainably, managing your costs and your impact on the environment. These include changes in lighting, appliances, processes and transport, as well as installing renewable or low carbon electricity generation.

Try some of our tips below.

*Figures up to date as of October 2023

Wash at 30 degrees

SAVE £27 A YEAR by doing full loads of washing at 30°C. There are big savings to also be made (around £55) by line drying instead of using a tumble dryer, when the weather permits.

Turn it off

SAVE £55 A YEAR just by turning your appliances off standby mode. Most appliances can be turned off at the plug without upsetting their programming.

Less time in the shower

SAVE £65 A YEAR by simply keeping your shower time to just 4 minutes.

Boil what you use

SAVE £11 A YEAR by only filling the kettle with as much water as what you need.

Hand washing dishes

SAVE £13 A YEAR by reducing your dishwasher use by one run per week.
