Net Zero Terrace Alpha

Net Zero Terrace Alpha project

The Alpha phase will produce a replicable technical and financial model for decarbonisation of mixed-tenure terraced housing that can be scaled and is appropriate for those that might otherwise be left behind.

Electricity North West began delivery of this six-month project in October 2023 alongside partners Buro HappoldRV EnergyRossendale Borough Council, Northern Powergrid, Centre for Energy Equality, Kensa, UK Power Networks, University of Salford and UrbanChain.

The expected key outputs of the Alpha project phase:

  • Define the offer to members of the community, including refining which engagement methods are the most appropriate through pilot testing and evaluation.
  • Produce a refined architecture for delivery of the SLES including further development of subsystem interfaces and overall functional requirements specification to allow providers to participate.
  • Review the DNO/DSO interface and connections process to identify how to maximise the value to customers and fully quantify the network benefits from rolling out the solution.
  • Produce a CBA model that clearly demonstrates the costs and benefits of the solution.
