Net Zero Terrace Discovery project

Net Zero Terrace will demonstrate how to decarbonise an entire terraced street using a Smart Local Energy System (SLES) that is integrated with the network, optimised, affordable to consumers and easily replicable across GB.

Electricity North West began delivery of this two-month project in April 2023 alongside partners Buro Happold, RV Energy, Rossendale Borough Council and Northern Powergrid. 

The discovery phase will:

  • Explore potential regulatory barriers
  • Identify DNO/DSO interface requirements
  • Develop a strategy to engage with communities and local authorities
  • Develop a spatial plan
  • Explore technical design options
  • Engage with the supply chain
  • Assess compatibility of the solution with other DNOs
